Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movements of the joints.  Massage therapists use massage oils to facilitate smooth, gliding strokes over the entire body.  Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue.  This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles.  Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury.

Stone Massage

A stone massage uses stones, sometimes heated, to massage the body.  The hardness of the stones allows the therapist to address specific problem areas with more detailed work or deeper pressure.  Stones of various sizes, shapes and weights are used throughout and heated in water.  The heat from the stones relaxes muscles, increases the blood flow to the area being worked on which further accelerates the healing process.  This increase in circulation and the relaxation of the muscles also aids in mental relaxation.  Mental relaxation is key when a therapist is attempting to work into deeper muscles of the body.

 Raindrop Therapy

Raindrop Therapy uses essential oils that have been clinically tested to have antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties.  Raindrop has helped bring relief to chronic pain sufferers and has been known to cause visible improvement in scoliosis.  A patient receiving raindrop lays facedown as oils are dropped up their back from a height of 6-12 inches.  The oils are gently massaged in with the Lakota “feathering” motion.   After the essential oils have been applied, a towel soaked in hot water is applied to the back to drive the oils further into the body.

 Prenatal Massage

Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage — to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good.  But it's also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies.

Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a finger pressure massage that calms an overactive sympathetic nervous system, which improves circulation, relieves stiff muscles, and alleviates stress.
